This qualification is aimed at middle and senior managers in the corporate environment with financial responsibilities. It is built around a unique one year programme, and provides the practical knowledge persons may need in order to take the fear out of accounting and ensure confident participation in financial discussions.
The diploma covers a range of key areas: interpreting financial statements, planning, managing and measuring performance and the use of budgets and other tools and techniques to support the decision making and risk managment functions of the average manager.
It is a very flexible and cost effective programme, for which our College will commence training in July 2008 for towards examinations in December 2008.
The diploma programme is divided into two modules, consisting of four papers/exams and covering the following areas:
Module A: covers Interepretation of Financial Statements and Performance Management, and these areas are attempted via a written three hour examination covering both subjects in addition to a project to be submitted for module completion;
Module B: covers Financial Strategy and Risk Management, and these areas are also attempted via a written three hour examination covering both subjects in addition to a project to be submitted for module completion.
Value: The Diploma provides a useful foundation for futher study, as it is seen as equivalent to a third of the coursework required for most MBA programmes. This will therefore allow for accelerated entry into such programmes. The DipFM also allows candidates to develop a practical, working knowledge of finance and related matters.
Entry requirements: the minimum requirement is that applicants should possess a recognised degree, other certificate or diploma or a non-accounting professional designation. Those not suitably qualified may be admitted on the basis of accumulated work experience, provided they can demonstrate, with employer certification that the Diploma will be relevant to their area of work and responsibility.
Your initial registration/application fees payable to ACCA include the study text for each paper and a year's subscription to the magazine Finance Matters. All other learning materials are available for purchase through our Bookshop for the duration of our training programme.
Our Training: the structure and format for our training will be based on weekly instruction delivered via a minimum of one two to three hour lecture.
